Do's and Don'ts
RCC Precast Tank Installation Guidelines
Do's and Don'ts for RCC Precast Tank Installation
Use these simple guidelines to help clients and contractors handle Togreen Infra tanks safely and correctly.
Do's
- Do clear all debris, loose soil, and obstacles from the excavation area before starting work.
- Do provide safe access for excavators, concrete trucks, and lifting equipment.
- Do clearly mark the tank location, setbacks, and working clearances as per approved drawings.
- Do ensure the pit has straight sides, correct dimensions, and a level base before lowering the tank.
- Do compact the base layer properly and remove stones or sharp objects that could damage the tank.
- Do keep the excavated soil at a safe distance from the edge of the pit to avoid collapse.
- Do keep the pit dry; pump out any collected water before placing the tank.
- Do position the tank so that manholes, riser pipes, and connections are easily accessible for maintenance.
- Do use trained and experienced operators for cranes, loaders, and other lifting equipment.
- Do provide safety barricades and warning signage around the open excavation to prevent unauthorized entry.
Don'ts
- Don't over‑excavate beyond the required length, breadth, and depth unless instructed by the engineer.
- Don't commence excavation when heavy rain is expected, as it can cause pit collapse or flooding.
- Don't leave sharp projections, boulders, or construction waste at the base or sides of the pit.
- Don't allow vehicles or heavy equipment to move too close to the unsupported edges of the excavation.
- Don't lower or lift the tank using improper hooks, chains, or slings that could damage the structure.
- Don't backfill with large rocks or uncompacted soil that may create point loads on the tank walls.
- Don't cover or block access covers, vents, or inspection points after landscaping or paving.
